Duties of Worship

Many of our members enjoy being able to be part of our services of worship. We have a number of different way you can get involved. From service reading to welcoming our congregation. If you would like to put yourself forwards for one of the many roles, please let us know.

Readers and Prayer Leaders

We are delighted when people are willing, if not eager, to read one of the Bible passages and /or lead the congregation in prayer.

Names of volunteers are kept by the stewards. To have your name added to the list please have a chat with a steward or send an email to readers@uppermillmethodistchurch.org.uk.

Porch Duty

At Uppermill Methodist Church members of our church family often offer to act as door stewards to ensure everyone who comes receives a warm welcome. We feel that this is a very important role.

People who undertake Porch Duty also give out the appropriate hymn books, service books, leaflets if needed and the weekly newsletter.

There is a rota for Porch Duty to which you can add your name by emailing porch@uppermillmethodistchurch.org.uk.

Flowers in Church

Every Sunday we have flowers on or near the altar table or font. These are generously provided and arranged by members of the congregation each Sunday. The flowers are often given in memory of a loved one or to remember a special birthday or anniversary.

After the service, we organise the distribution of the flowers so that they may cheer a friend remembered in the prayer list, or others in our thoughts. Attached to each gift of flowers is a card with a message of prayers and good wishes from all at Uppermill Methodist Church.

If you know someone who would appreciate the gift of flowers, please email flowers@uppermillmethodistchurch.org.uk or see any of the Church Stewards. To donate flowers please add your name to the rota on the noticeboard.

Sunday Coffee

After Sunday Worship refreshments are served in the adjoining Methodist Centre; this is a time when the church family can get together in an informal setting.

Members of the congregation take turns serving weekly. Volunteers can sign up on the rota on the noticeboard.
