Heartfelt
Rosie has made this pretty pair of hearts for Oldham ICU. #heartsforhospitals
Thank You
Royal Oldham Hospital has sent a lovely letter of thanks for the hearts that people have been making:
"I am writing to say thank you for your kind donation and the beautiful hearts that you have made for our patients. When a patient is admitted to the Intensive Care Unit we know that this is a very difficult time for both them & their loved ones, especially in that they are unable to support them & be at their bedside . . . The intensive care team are sending your hearts as a token of love and support to them. We then give the patient a matching heart . . . to keep with them whilst they are in hospital."

Winter Greens
Our long-term plan is to knit and crochet swags that we can use to decorate our church next Christmas.  We welcome leaves in any shade of green, and if you are not a confident crafter, we can also use strips in shades of green to create the base for the swags.

Have a Heart!
In these difficult times, when families and friends are unable to visit their loved ones in hospital, the Oldham ICU is asking that people knit matching pairs of hearts - one of the hearts is kept by the person in hospital, and the other is given to their family, so that they have a tangible link.
If you would like a copy of a simple pattern, please email umcupdates@gmail.com.
If you have made hearts for the ICU they can be left at Uppermill Co-op - please just drop them off when you shop, don't make a special journey.
