About us

UMC (Uppermill Methodist Church) is an active, friendly church that has been serving the Uppermill  community for over 100 years. We offer a lively range of activities, groups and worship.

Our Mission

In response to God’s love for us, we strive to ‘live the Jesus way’, through:

  • Worship : We give praise and thanks to God in different styles of worship.

  • Learning & Caring : We are a caring community that encourages one another.

  • Service :  We respond to others needs in whatever ways we can, in Jesus’ name.

  • Reaching Out : We want to share our love for Jesus, so that others can experience it too.

The best way to find out more about Uppermill Methodist Church is to come along and join us in worship - You are sure to receive a warm welcome.

Children are very welcome at all UMC services. Rest-assured it doesn't matter if your child wanders around and explores the church, we want them to feel at home and welcome .

Accessiblity

We have two entrances - one at the front with a number of steps and another with no steps and completely wheelchair and pram friendly. Our upstairs rooms are accessible via a large new lift, and we have two accessible toilets, one in the church porch, the other in the Methodist Centre.

The church has a Public Address System which has a T- loop facility and we use AV equipment during services to help with hymn words and general presentation information.

Fairtrade

Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.

At Uppermill Methodist Church we have a commitment to Fairtrade and we were proud to receive our official accreditation as a Fairtrade Church in 2011.

This means that we undertake to

  • Use Fairtrade tea and coffee after services and in all meetings for which we have responsibility.

  • Move forward on using other Fairtrade products such as sugar, biscuits and fruit.

  • Promote Fairtrade during Fairtrade Fortnight and during the year through events, worship and other activities whenever possible.

  • Have a monthly Traidcraft stall with a variety of coffee, tea, foodstuffs and confectionery for sale.
